Pilates Workshop Series with Francesca Bareiro

Go beyond the class with our new Pilates Workshop Series, led by Francesca Bareiro at Equal Rozengracht.

equal yoga

During a regular Pilates class, there isn’t always time to stop, ask questions and understand the why behind each movement. These three workshops give you the space to explore the practice in more depth, from the connection between breath and core to alignment, technique and control.

Expect a combination of explanation, guided practice and movement, with practical tools you can bring into your regular Pilates classes.

Breath & Core

Saturday 12 September · 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Explore the relationship between breath, core and movement, and how the way we breathe can influence posture, stability and control.

You’ll learn more about the mechanics of breathing, the role of the diaphragm and how breath supports deep core activation. Through guided breathing exercises and Pilates movement, you’ll explore how to create a responsive connection between the breath, abdominal muscles, pelvic floor and spine—without unnecessary tension.

You’ll leave with a better understanding of your core and practical tools to bring into your Pilates practice.

Posture, Alignment & Engagement

Saturday 17 October · 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Explore how posture, alignment and muscular engagement work together to create more balanced and controlled movement.

We’ll look at the position of the pelvis, spine, ribcage, shoulders and head, while developing a greater awareness of your individual body and movement patterns. Through Pilates exercises and movement exploration, you’ll learn to recognise the difference between productive muscular effort and unnecessary tension.

The aim is to help you move with greater awareness, precision and ease, both on and off the mat.

Understanding Pilates Movements

Saturday 14 November · 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

For the final workshop, we’ll explore the principles behind Pilates movements, rather than simply following the exercises.

We’ll break down fundamental movement patterns such as spinal articulation, flexion and extension, rotation, lateral movement, hip mobility and weight-bearing. Through demonstrations and guided practice, you’ll learn what different movements are designed to do, where you should feel them and how to modify them when needed.

The goal is to give you a deeper understanding of the Pilates repertoire so you can approach your practice with more confidence, control and intention.
